正面描述 Bracteate design depicting the Landgrave Hermann I standing in profile to the right, holding a lily scepter in his hand as a symbol of authority. To the left, a secondary figure extends a banner or flag toward the Landgrave in a gesture of investiture or submission. Between the two figures, a small tower or turret is depicted in the central field, likely representing a fortified place or territorial symbol. The composition is rendered in the characteristic high-relief, single-sided style of Thuringian bracteates of the late 12th and early 13th centuries.

附加信息

Hermann I ruled Thuringia at a moment of acute imperial instability, backing Philip of Swabia against Otto IV during the Staufen-Welf conflict before switching allegiance to Otto, then ultimately supporting the young Frederick II — a pattern of calculated repositioning that kept Thuringia relevant through three successive succession crises. Bracteates of his reign are struck on fabric so thin that die wear and flan stress fractures are endemic to the type rather than exceptional in individual specimens.
