正面描述 Two crowned figures seated facing on a shared throne or bench, rendered in the stylized Romanesque manner characteristic of late 12th-century German bracteate coinage. The left figure holds a globus cruciger or orb before his body, while the right figure holds a sceptre diagonally across the field; both wear open crowns with fleurs or points. The enthroned pair is enclosed within a plain inner circle, beyond which an outer border of alternating raised arcs or lunettes forms a decorative lobate rim framing the entire composition. No legible inscription is present; the design relies entirely on imagery to convey imperial authority.

附加信息

Henry VI inherited the imperial throne in 1190 following Frederick Barbarossa's drowning in the Saleph River during the Third Crusade, and spent much of his reign forcing submission from German princes while simultaneously pursuing his claim to Sicily through his wife Constance. The Donauworth mint operated under imperial authority during this period as Henry consolidated control over the Swabian duchies. Bracteate production at minor imperial mints like Donauworth was often short-lived, tied directly to the political presence of the issuing authority — Henry's sudden death in 1197 at thirty-two ended the series abruptly.
