Henry of Tanne served as Bishop of Constance from 1233 to 1248, a tenure marked by persistent conflict with the Habsburgs over territorial rights in the upper Rhine region. Bracteates of this diocese are among the thinner and more fragile surviving examples from the Swabian ecclesiastical mints, and Constance issues from this period are underrepresented in major collections relative to contemporary Saxon or Thuringian production.
