Obverse description Facing half-length effigy of a bishop in high relief, rendered in the Romanesque style typical of 13th-century German ecclesiastical bracteates. The figure is vested in full episcopal attire, including a mitre and a beaded or jewelled pectoral vestment, raising the right hand in benediction and holding a crozier in the left. The design is set within a plain inner circle surrounded by a broad beaded border. The entire composition is characteristic of the single-sided bracteate technique, with the design struck in high convex relief on a thin flan.
