Obverse description Facing half-length effigy of a bishop in stylized Romanesque manner, wearing a mitre and rendered frontally within a raised inner circle. The figure holds a crozier in the left hand and a lily-scepter in the right, both depicted in a schematic, archaic style characteristic of medieval German bracteates. The face is boldly rendered with large eyes and a prominent nose, framed by the mitre above. The entire design is contained within a beaded border encircling the inner field, typical of the thin, single-sided hammered coinage of the Constance bishopric.
