The Vogtland bailiwicks were among the more prolific producers of bracteates in the eastern German territories, issuing thin hammered silver on the local Heller-weight standard across multiple generations of the same ruling family. Henry I of Plauen held authority over the bailiwick across the latter half of the thirteenth century, a period when bracteate coinage in this region was already losing ground to thicker pfennig types further west. The long date range reflects attribution uncertainty — these thin, fragile pieces are notoriously difficult to assign to specific reigns within a dynasty.
