Gottfried VI ruled Ziegenhain during a period when the thin, single-sided bracteate was already losing ground to the double-sided pfennig across much of the Holy Roman Empire — yet the county continued striking them, likely out of regional conservatism and the practical reality that bracteates were cheaper to produce per gram of silver. The type is documented by Berger but survives in small numbers, consistent with the low striking volume typical of minor Hessian lordships of the period.
