| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing crowned bust of Emperor Frederick II, the crown adorned with a central cross flanked by two lateral rings, set between two stylized three-leafed linden branches rendered in schematic relief. The effigy is executed in the flat, single-sided bracteate technique typical of southern German pfennige of the mid-thirteenth century, with bold outlines and minimal facial detail characteristic of the Lindau mint's output. The linden branches serve as heraldic references to the town of Lindau, whose name derives from the Old High German for linden tree. |
