| 表面の説明 | Facing crowned imperial bust rendered in high relief in the Romanesque style, the crown adorned with pellets and fleur-de-lis finials. Flanking the bust on either side is a stylised tower or turret, each depicted with an arched gateway and triangular roofline, suggestive of civic or imperial architectural motifs. Below the bust, a cruciform sceptre or crossed regalia element terminates in a ring or annulet. The entire composition is enclosed within a raised inner circle, itself surrounded by a broad beaded border. The field is unlettered, with the design serving as the sole identifier of imperial authority. |

| 裏面の説明 | As a bracteate struck from a single thin flan, the reverse displays the same design as the obverse but rendered in incuse (negative) relief, a characteristic feature of the bracteate technique. The facing crowned bust with flanking towers and the lower regalia element are all visible in mirror image, pressed through from the obverse die. The beaded border is similarly reproduced in incuse form around the perimeter. The surfaces show natural wear and patination consistent with medieval silver bracteates of the Swabian region. |

Frederick II's decades-long conflict with the papacy — twice excommunicated, perpetually at war with the Lombard League — left imperial administration fragmented across dozens of regional minting authorities. These thin-flan bracteates emerged from that decentralization, struck by local lords operating under imperial sanction but with considerable autonomous latitude. The type catalogued by Berger at 2607 reflects Swabian production during the period when Frederick was more often in Sicily or on crusade than managing German affairs directly.
The extreme thinness of the flan makes crack-free survivors genuinely uncommon.
