| Obverse description | Crowned and bearded bust of Emperor Frederick I facing left, depicted between two flanking towers, each surmounted by a ring; the composition evokes an architectural or palatial setting. A winged half-length figure, likely an angel or eagle symbolizing imperial authority, appears below the bust in the lower field. The design is executed in the thin, high-relief bracteate technique characteristic of Swabian coinage of the mid-to-late twelfth century. The overall style reflects the Romanesque artistic conventions prevalent in the Ulm mint region during the reign of Frederick Barbarossa. |
