正面描述 Frontal half-length episcopal effigy of a bishop set beneath a Romanesque arch, rendered in the characteristic thin-flan bracteate style. The figure is mitred and vested in ecclesiastical robes, holding a Bible in the left hand and a crozier in the right. Seven pellets or dots are arranged in a row above the arch, serving as a decorative border element. The design is struck in high relief on the obverse, with the image appearing in incuse mirror image on the reverse as is typical of bracteate coinage.

附加信息

Diethelm of Krenkingen served as Bishop of Constance from 1189 until his death in 1206, making the upper bound of this issue's dating range a numismatic convention rather than a historical one — Werner of Staufen, his successor, continued striking bracteates of near-identical type, complicating attribution without die study. The joint attribution in the reference literature reflects genuine uncertainty rather than confirmed co-issue.

Constance bracteates of this period circulated primarily within the ecclesiastical territories of the Upper Rhine and Lake Constance basin, where the bishop exercised both spiritual and temporal authority under the Holy Roman Empire.
