| Opis awersu | Enthroned frontal figure of the abbot, depicted in Romanesque style, wearing a mitre and holding a crozier in the right hand; the figure is shown seated with legs apart and feet turned outward, flanked by foliate or scroll ornaments on either side. The relief is bold and highly stylized in the manner typical of Thuringian-Hessian bracteate coinage of the early thirteenth century. The design is contained within a beaded inner circle, itself surrounded by a plain outer rim characteristic of the thin hammered bracteate flan. No legible inscription is present on this type. |

Conrad III of Malkos served as Abbot of Fulda from 1221 until his death in 1249, presiding over the abbey during a period of mounting financial pressure as the institution struggled to maintain its territorial holdings against encroaching secular lords. Fulda's bracteate coinage of this period functioned as regional tender across a contested ecclesiastical domain, not ceremonial issue.
Gaettens 94 is among the thinner-flan examples in the Fulda bracteate sequence — the 0.65g weight sits at the lower end even for the type, which routinely produced coins prone to cracking at the edges.
