Conrad II of Hildesheim held the see from 1221 to 1246, a tenure marked by persistent conflict with the Welfen dukes over jurisdictional rights in Lower Saxony. Bracteates of this diocese are notoriously thin-flan issues, and the Hildesheim series in particular shows significant variation in die execution across the episcopate — Löbbecke's classification alone distinguishes multiple subtypes within what catalogers once lumped as a single issue.
