| Opis awersu | Frontal bust of Archbishop Conrad I vested in pontifical robes and wearing a mitra, holding a palm branch in his left hand and a crozier in his right, depicted facing within a triple-arched architectural canopy flanked by towers in the Romanesque style. The central arcade rises above the figure's head, and subsidiary structures with turrets are visible to either side, evoking the facade of Mainz Cathedral. The composition is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, outside of which the legend is distributed, with eight pellets arranged along the outer rim. The overall design is characteristic of high-quality Rhenish bracteate coinage of the late twelfth century, struck on a thin uniface flan with bold high-relief modeling. |
