| Opis awersu | Enthroned archbishop facing, nimbed and vested in episcopal robes, holding a book (Gospel) in his left hand and a cross-staff or sceptre in his right; to the right, a standing figure in ecclesiastical dress, likely a saint, presenting a palm frond. A smaller kneeling supplicant figure appears at the base of the throne in the lower field. The entire composition is enclosed within a beaded inner circle and a plain outer border, with a Latin legend running along the inner circumference in Romanesque lettering. The style is characteristic of late 12th-century Rhenish bracteate coinage, with bold relief achieved through single-die hammering on a thin silver flan. |
