| Beschrijving voorzijde | Frontal bust of Archbishop Conrad I of Querfurt in pontifical vestments, shown enthroned and facing forward in the Romanesque style characteristic of early 12th-century German ecclesiastical coinage. The archbishop is depicted wearing a mitre and holding a crozier in his left hand, while his right hand is raised in a gesture of benediction. Flanking the central figure are stylized architectural elements suggestive of cathedral towers or columns, emphasizing the ecclesiastical authority of the issuer. A circular Latin legend reading + CVNRADV AREP surrounds the central design within a beaded or rope border. The relief is boldly struck in the bracteate tradition, with fine detail preserved in the facial features and drapery of the vestments. |

Conrad I held the see of Magdeburg from 1134 until his death in 1142, a tenure marked by his close alignment with Lothar III and subsequent friction with the Hohenstaufen succession. Bracteates from Magdeburg in this period represent some of the earliest thin-flan silver issues from the Saxon ecclesiastical mints, a format that would come to dominate northern German coinage through the thirteenth century.
The Berger and Löbbecke references place this piece within a well-documented but physically fragile series — bracteates of this weight rarely survived circulation intact.
