| 表面の説明 | Single-sided bracteate struck in thin silver sheet. Within a beaded inner circle, a stylized eagle displayed facing, rendered in a primitive Romanesque manner with spread wings and bold outlines. Surrounding the central device, the partial Latin legend KAZIMIR (or CASIMIR) is distributed around the beaded border in archaic letterforms. A small cross pattée appears at the top of the coin, outside the inner circle, serving as a dividing mark for the legend. The overall composition is characteristic of late 12th-century Polish bracteate coinage, with a strongly graphic, two-dimensional artistic treatment. |

Casimir II earned his epithet not from sentiment but from political calculation — his 1180 Łęczyca congress saw him extract ecclesiastical support for his rule by granting the Polish church sweeping privileges, including exemption from ducal succession duties. The bracteate coinage issued from Kraków during his reign funded a court that was, by Piast standards, unusually sophisticated. These thin, single-sided strikes are structurally fragile; the Kraków mint's bracteates from this period are routinely found creased or split at the edges, making intact examples genuinely scarce.
