Obverse description Single-sided bracteate struck in thin silver sheet. Within a beaded inner circle, a stylized eagle displayed facing, rendered in a primitive Romanesque manner with spread wings and bold outlines. Surrounding the central device, the partial Latin legend KAZIMIR (or CASIMIR) is distributed around the beaded border in archaic letterforms. A small cross pattée appears at the top of the coin, outside the inner circle, serving as a dividing mark for the legend. The overall composition is characteristic of late 12th-century Polish bracteate coinage, with a strongly graphic, two-dimensional artistic treatment.
