| Beschrijving voorzijde | Bishop Berthold II enthroned facing in three-quarter view within a beaded inner circle, depicted in a stylized Romanesque manner. The figure is shown seated on a throne, vested in episcopal robes, holding a crozier in the left hand and a cross-tipped sceptre in the right. The composition is typical of late 12th-century German bracteate coinage, with the single-sided relief image pressed into a thin, broad flan. The surrounding field is enclosed by a raised beaded border running along the irregular rim. |
