Regenstein was a minor comital house in the Harz region whose line died out in 1365 when the last count, Ulrich IV, left no legitimate heirs. The county passed to the Bishopric of Halberstadt, and subsequent anonymous bracteate issues attributed to Regenstein almost certainly postdate direct comital authority entirely — struck instead under episcopal administration of the former territory. Attribution to "County of Regenstein" in this period is therefore a geographical rather than dynastic designation.
Harz-region bracteates of this late date are notably thin even by bracteate standards, a consequence of declining silver quality in regional minting during the late 14th century.
