Obverse description Central eight-petalled rosette within a beaded inner circle. Four towers with pointed roofs are arranged symmetrically around the circle, alternating with two winged angels displayed in flight and two praying half-length figures shown in supplication. The overall composition reflects a Romanesque ecclesiastical artistic style consistent with south-German bracteate coinage of the late 12th century.
