| Obverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, the Brunswick lion passant to left with head turned to face the viewer, rendered in a bold, schematic style characteristic of 13th-century German bracteate coinage. Beneath the lion stands a stylised tower or gateway with crenellated battlements, serving as a heraldic emblem of the mint town.
