Obverse description Within a plain inner circle, a quadripartite shield bearing the four-fold arms of the City of Hildesheim: the upper-left and lower-right quarters each display a group of pellets arranged in a triangular formation, while the upper-right and lower-left quarters are plain, divided by a central horizontal and vertical bar. The shield is rendered in low relief characteristic of bracteate hammered coinage, with no surrounding legend.
