Obverse description Stylized eagle displayed in a schematic, archaic rendering characteristic of late 13th-century bracteate coinage; the bird features a disproportionately large rounded head with a horizontal line denoting the beak, abbreviated stub-like wings flanking the body, and a broad, thick splayed tail filling the lower field. A single pellet (dot) is positioned in the upper left field adjacent to the eagle's head. The design is executed in low relief typical of the single-sided bracteate technique, with all elements reading as incuse on the reverse.

Additional information

Bracteates of this weight class — under 0.30g — represent the extreme thin end of late thirteenth-century south German minting practice, where local ecclesiastical and secular lords struck coins so fragile that many survive only as fragments. The type assigned RW#119 falls within a period of intense monetary fragmentation in the Empire, when the absence of central minting authority produced hundreds of distinct local issues within a single generation.
