Dömitz, a small fortified town on the Elbe in what is now Mecklenburg, exercised brief but documented minting rights during the second half of the thirteenth century — a period when hundreds of minor north German lordships and municipalities struck their own bracteate issues as imperial authority fragmented after the Hohenstaufen collapse.
