Obverse description A stylized eagle displayed with a small rounded head, pointed beak, and sharply pointed outstretched wings occupies the center of the field. The bird's talons grip scrolling foliate or wing-like extensions at the base, rendered in a flat, linear Romanesque style characteristic of late 12th-century German bracteate coinage. The entire design is executed in high relief as a single-sided strike, with the image appearing in intaglio on the reverse. The composition is enclosed within a beaded border running along the coin's irregular circumference.
