| Description du revers | Central field presents a frontal bust of a crowned ruler, likely Bolesław the Pious, depicted in a hieratic Romanesque style with a beaded or jewelled crown surmounted by a cross. The face is rendered schematically with large eyes and simplified facial features typical of mid-13th-century Polish deniers. Flanking the bust are abbreviated symbols or letters, possibly fragments of the ruler's name or title, distributed loosely around the field. A beaded inner border encircles the central device, and the flan is irregular in shape as expected of hammered coinage of this period. |

Bolesław Pobożny — Bolesław the Pious — ruled Greater Poland during one of the most consequential periods in the duchy's internal history. In 1264 he issued the Statute of Kalisz, granting Jews unprecedented legal protections and economic freedoms that made Greater Poland a refuge for Jewish communities fleeing persecution elsewhere in Europe. The Poznań mint operated under his direct authority, and these deniers represent the fiscal infrastructure that made such relatively stable governance possible.
Kopicki 161 is among the scarcer attributable issues from his reign. The Poznań attribution rests primarily on die analysis and hoard provenance rather than any mint mark.
