Reverse description Central field presents a frontal bust of a crowned ruler, likely Bolesław the Pious, depicted in a hieratic Romanesque style with a beaded or jewelled crown surmounted by a cross. The face is rendered schematically with large eyes and simplified facial features typical of mid-13th-century Polish deniers. Flanking the bust are abbreviated symbols or letters, possibly fragments of the ruler's name or title, distributed loosely around the field. A beaded inner border encircles the central device, and the flan is irregular in shape as expected of hammered coinage of this period.
