Obverse lettering +BOLESLAVS DVX
Reverse description The reverse bears the civic legend +PRAGA CIVITAS encircling a bold double-lined cross pattée with a small pellet or annulet at the center, flanked by annulets in each of the four quarters. The cross is contained within a beaded inner circle, a design element common to Bohemian deniers of the Přemyslid dynasty referencing the city of Prague as the mint authority. The lettering is crudely struck in the Latin alphabet, consistent with early medieval hammered coinage. The overall composition reflects the influence of Carolingian and Ottonian monetary conventions on Bohemian numismatic art of the late tenth century.
