Denier - Boleslaus II the Pious

Boleslaus II secured a bishopric for Prague in 973, bringing Bohemia formally into the Latin ecclesiastical orbit and giving his coinage an institutional weight it previously lacked. The deniers of his reign are among the earliest coherent Czech silver issues, produced at a moment when the Přemyslid dynasty was actively constructing the administrative and religious infrastructure of a Christian kingdom. Cach 91 is one of several catalogued varieties from his long rule — the range across those varieties reflects a mint operation that evolved considerably between 967 and his death.
