Boleslaus II secured a bishopric for Prague in 973, reducing Bohemia's ecclesiastical dependence on Regensburg and marking a consolidation of authority that likely coincided with expanded minting activity. The deniers of his reign represent the earliest coherent Bohemian coinage series, drawing on Bavarian and Carolingian prototypes that had circulated in the region for generations before local striking began in earnest.
