Boleslaus II consolidated Bohemian ecclesiastical independence during his reign, securing the establishment of the Prague bishopric in 973 — a political achievement that directly drove coin production as the duchy asserted administrative authority through currency. These deniers represent some of the earliest native Bohemian coinage, issued in the decades immediately following the death of Boleslaus I and the stabilization of Přemyslid control over Moravia and eastern territories.
