Boleslaus II secured the bishopric of Prague in 973, giving Bohemia its first independent ecclesiastical structure and separating it from the diocese of Regensburg — a political realignment that almost certainly accelerated the development of a native coinage. Whether the deniers attributed to his reign were struck at Prague or at an earlier Bohemian mint site remains unresolved, and Cach's numbering reflects attribution by type rather than confirmed mint sequence. These are among the earliest coins struck in Bohemian lands.
