Boleslaus II secured a bishopric for Prague in 973, and the expansion of a minting program under his reign reflects that consolidation of ecclesiastical and secular authority in a single Přemyslid hand. Bohemian deniers of this period drew directly on Ottonian prototypes — a consequence of the kingdom's political orbit around the Holy Roman Empire rather than any independent monetary tradition.
Šmerda 49c is among the more precisely catalogued varieties of this reign, though attribution of individual specimens remains contested given die-link overlaps across the Cach sequence.
