| Obverse description | Central field dominated by a long cross with a pellet in each of the four quarters formed by the arms, all enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The retrograde or irregular Latin legend BOLESLAVS runs around the periphery, outside the beaded circle, with letter forms characteristic of early medieval Bohemian coinage. The die-cutting is crude yet bold, typical of tenth-century hammered silver deniers from the Prague Mint. |
