| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse depicts a stylized architectural motif interpreted as a schematic representation of a church or palatial structure, rendered in a highly abstracted linear style characteristic of early medieval Bohemian coinage. The design features a triangular gabled roof surmounting a multi-tiered rectangular building facade, with small pellets and star-like elements flanking the composition. The surrounding legend PRAGA CIVITAS, identifying Prague as the city of issue, runs around the periphery in Latin script on the irregularly struck flan. |

Boleslaus I ruled Bohemia after murdering his brother Wenceslaus in 935 — the same Wenceslaus later canonized and celebrated in Christmas carol tradition. Whether he commissioned these deniers immediately after seizing power or later in his reign remains debated, but they represent the earliest phase of organized Bohemian coinage, struck at a time when the duchy was consolidating its political independence from direct Carolingian and later Ottonian monetary influence while simultaneously paying tribute to the Saxon emperors.
