The legend PRAGA CIVIT is distributed around the outer field in crude Latin characters, partially retrograde and irregularly spaced around the hammered flan. The architectural symbol is widely interpreted as a representation of the Prague church or cathedral, serving as a civic and ecclesiastical identifier for the mint. The design is deeply struck with strong relief, typical of the primitive die-cutting technique employed at the Prague mint during the reign of Boleslaus I. The reverse composition is consistent with other early Bohemian deniers catalogued under Cach and reflects the nascent monetary organization of the Přemyslid state. |
