Reverse description Central beaded inner circle enclosing a plain cross pattee with pellets or small annulets in each angle of the cross, a design characteristic of early Piast-era deniers influenced by Ottonian and Bohemian coinage traditions. The surrounding legend, partially retrograde, reads GNEZDVN CIVITAS, identifying Gniezno as the city of issue, and is rendered in rudimentary Latin capital letters of varying size and orientation. The lettering runs around the full circumference within a double border.
