Obverse description Facing bust of a crowned king rendered in crude hammered style, the effigy depicted in frontal view with a stylized fleur-de-lis crown clearly visible above the head. The facial features are rendered in a primitive but expressive manner characteristic of mid-13th century Hungarian bracteate-influenced coinage. The bust is centered within the irregular flan with no surrounding legend. The overall design reflects the archaic artistic conventions of Árpád-dynasty royal portraiture.

Reverse description A bold Latin letter R occupies the center of the field, enclosed within a beaded or raised inner circle. A double-outlined or rimmed cross divides the surrounding area into four quarters, each canton containing one letter of the royal name: B, E, L, A, reading the name of the issuing king Béla IV. The design is executed in the crude hammered style typical of 13th-century Hungarian denars, with the cross arms extending to the coin's edge.
