| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central double-barred cross divides the field into four quarters, each containing a small star or lozenge ornament, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. A second concentric band bearing the royal legend separates the inner design from the toothed outer border. The legend, rendered in crude Romanesque lettering, reads MONETT BELE REGIS R T T T T, proclaiming the coin as the money of King Béla. The overall design is characteristic of the Árpád-dynasty hammered coinage, with a flat, irregular flan and bold, deeply struck elements typical of 12th-century Hungarian minting practice. |
