The cross arms are thick and emphatic, characteristic of the ecclesiastical denier type struck at Saint-Omer under Baldwin IV. A circular legend surrounds the design, preceded by a cross pattée, and the entire composition is enclosed within a pelleted border on an irregular flan. The lettering and cross are executed in the crude but vigorous hammered style common to Flemish deniers of the late tenth and early eleventh centuries.
