Obverse description Central field features a large Gothic letter S enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The field is quartered by implied divisions, with pellets occupying the first, second, and third quarters and a crescent in the fourth quarter. The circumscribed Latin legend +PRIN.CEPS surrounds the inner circle, interrupted by the quarter motifs. The coin is struck on an irregular flan with typical Crusader-period hammered fabric.
