| Obverse description | Diademed bust facing right, the effigy rendered in a schematic late Merovingian style with a small cross applied to the forehead. The portrait is crude but expressive, typical of early 8th-century Frankish coinage. The surrounding legend reads PARISIVS, identifying the Paris mint, introduced by a cross. The legend is disposed around the periphery of the flan in Latin majuscules. |
