Reverse description A short cross pattée is depicted at the centre of the coin, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. A single raised pellet is placed in each of the four angles formed by the arms of the cross, a design typical of Carolingian-derived Flemish deniers of this period. The outer field surrounding the beaded circle bears a fragmentary Latin legend, partially legible. The flan is irregular with flat areas due to the hammered striking technique, and the surfaces display light wear consistent with circulation.
