Arnulf I — called "the Bad" by ecclesiastical chroniclers who resented his seizure of church properties after the Magyar invasions devastated Bavaria — issued this denier during a reign defined by near-constant military crisis. His decisive victory over the Magyars at the Battle of the Inn River in 913 bought the duchy years of fragile stability, though the raids resumed before his death in 937.
Regensburg's mint was among the few functioning with any regularity in this period. Hahn Radas 7b1 is a tight classification within a scarce type.
