Obverse description Bust of Bishop Arnulf facing left, depicted within a beaded or scrolled inner circle, rendered in a schematic Ottonian style typical of early medieval episcopal coinage. The effigy is shown in profile with stylized drapery and what appears to be a pontifical vestment. The surrounding circular legend reads ARNOLFVS EPS, identifying the issuing bishop. The overall composition reflects the crude but characteristic die-cutting of German ecclesiastical deniers of the late tenth to early eleventh century.
