| 背面描述 | A bridled horse leaping to the right, executed in the energetic, stylized manner characteristic of Gaulish silver coinage of the late Republican period. The horse's mane and tail are rendered with curvilinear strokes, and the bridle is clearly delineated. The legend SANTONO appears in the field before and above the horse, identifying the issuing tribe. A beaded circle borders the design, and further pellets or decorative elements appear beneath the horse in the lower field. |

The Santoni occupied the Atlantic coast of Gaul roughly between the Gironde and the Loire, a position that made them economically significant to Caesar's campaigns — their territory controlled river access inland from what is now the Charente estuary. This small silver piece belongs to the decade of the Gallic Wars, when tribal coinage was simultaneously a medium of exchange and a marker of political identity under direct Roman military pressure.
The ARIVOS inscription likely names a magistrate or chieftain, a naming convention that helps distinguish late Gaulish issues from earlier anonymous tribal production.
