Reverse description A cross pattée occupies the central field, its four arms extending toward an inner beaded circle. Four groups of three pellets are disposed in the angles between the arms of the cross, within the space defined by the inner and outer beaded circles. The entire design is enclosed between two concentric beaded circles, creating a characteristic double-bordure arrangement typical of mid-twelfth-century Burgundian feudal coinage. The flan is irregular and slightly cupped, consistent with hand-hammered production.
