Obverse description Crude bust facing right, depicted in a highly schematic and degenerate style characteristic of late Merovingian coinage. The head is rendered with a large eye, rudimentary facial features, and what appears to be a diademed or helmeted profile. Fragmentary and largely illegible retrograde or pseudo-Latin lettering surrounds the bust in the field. The die engraving is rough and provincial, reflecting the anonymous local production typical of ecclesiastical mints of the period.
