正面描述 Central plain cross with a pellet in the first and fourth quarters, all enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The cross arms extend to the inner circle, creating four distinct quarters. The surrounding legend reads ALTISIODOR, the Latin toponym for Auxerre, separated by a cross pattée at the start, and is contained between the inner beaded circle and the beaded outer border. The overall style is characteristic of anonymous feudal coinage of the late 12th century, struck on a slightly irregular flan typical of hammered production.

附加信息

The anonymous deniers of Auxerre occupy an awkward corner of French feudal coinage — issued without a named count precisely because the county changed hands repeatedly during the late twelfth century, passing between the houses of Nevers and Champagne through inheritance and marriage rather than conquest. Naming the issuing authority on the die would have required constant re-tooling. Anonymity was the practical solution.

The half-crosslet type is unrecorded in Boudeau, noted only in Poey d'Avant 5892.
